Azimuth

The first of an occasional series of small drawings on the theme of finding one's way. Each background is cut from the same large abstract drawing I created in the USA as a student influenced by the Austrian artist/ environmentalist Hundertwasser. As I moved from one continent to another over the next few decades, the drawing would turn up, increasingly dog-eared and folded smaller and smaller; like a map I had drawn years before but did not know how to interpret, until, here in England, I discovered Howard Hodgkin.
